SCHILTHORN
We couldn’t be more pleased with Schilthorn, as a truly eye-catching new location for Swatch Nines in 2023, 2025 & 2027. A venue that’s more visually spectacular than we’ve ever had before, will help propel Nines into a new era.
Surrounded by more than 200 alpine peaks and embedded in a pristine mountain environment, the Piz Gloria is located at 2,970 metres above sea level. The instantly recognisable summit building takes pride of place on the Schilthorn summit. It also marks the highest point of the Jungfrau Ski Region: Stretching out between 1600 and almost 3,000 metres above sea level makes the area Mürren-Schilthorn particularly snow sure, with winter sports operations in the upper Birg-Schilthorn section starting in beginning of November and ending in the beginning of May. An extensive network of some 50 kilometres of perfectly prepared pistes caters to all tastes and abilities. With great cableway access, the backcountry surrounding the Piz Gloria boasts several phenomenal freeride runs.
CRANS-MONTANA
Schilthorn joins the biannual winter venue rotation alongside the much-loved Crans-Montana as they alternate as hosts to the Winter event. Check out our video gallery to see the stunning vision of futuristic snowpark design of last years' nines in Crans-Montana.
The two neighboring resorts of Crans and Montana are situated at an altitude of 1500 m on a sun-drenched plateau high above the Rhone Valley. Together they form one of the biggest holiday destinations in the Valais. The ski slopes stretch from the high plateau up to the Plaine Morte Glacier at 3000 m. These twin towns have much to offer, including an impressive view of the chain of mountain peaks from the Matterhorn to Mont Blanc and a particularly wide programme of activities all year round. The sprawling sports infrastructure of Crans-Montana’s Alaïa Group—including a wave pool, skateparks, snowpark —means action on and off the slopes.
GREEN HILL
BIKEPARK
Swatch Nines MTB heads to Green Hill Bikepark on the 14–20th of August, 2023.
Since its opening in July 2022, Green Hill has quickly become a household name in the MTB community. Situated on an abandoned ski slope in the Sauerland region, the park—one of the largest mountain bike destinations in Germany —was built in less than six months thanks to in-house project planning and conceptual design. Now, with Swatch Nines coming to town, it’s set to host one of mountain biking’s most eye-catching events.
ABOUT BEYOND THE HILL MTB FESTIVAL
The collaboration between Swatch Nines and Green Hill Bikepark also includes a new three-day MTB festival, which will be held from the 18th to the 20th of August, 2023. Following on the heels of the media event, the Beyond the Hill Festival will complement the action of Swatch Nines with a public event featuring all kinds of festivities—music, parties, yoga, DJ sets and more—and of course, lots of bike-focused fun.
